Seth Blum is a Masters student in the Technology and Policy Program. His research focuses on the impacts and costs of heating electrification under extreme weather events and varying technology adoption and cost scenarios. Seth earned his B.A. in Mathematics and International and Area Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to MIT, Seth was a Mediator and Program Associate at Meridian Institute, where he managed the creation and growth of Lacuna Fund, a philanthropy to support training datasets leading to more equitable machine learning use cases in NLP, precision agriculture, and power systems. He also worked at the Clinton Health Access Initiative to assess market ‘pull’ mechanisms to support innovative cooling technologies in emerging economies and as a freelance strategy and facilitation consultant to large philanthropies, NGOs, and national governments.
